Sight is a vital function for higher living organisms. For humans, a sight-threatening condition, eye pain or accidents affecting the sight organs are primordial reasons for seeking a doctor who can offer experience and a speedy service.
That is why we ensure our A&E Department meets two vital conditions: We have 25 years’ experience and, since 2014, have been offering a visible, accessible service thanks to our new location at Vía Augusta 61, just off Plaça Gal·la Placídia, and the many available means of transport (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, buses, metro, car parks).
It is therefore Barcelona’s most accessible and central department, easily reached from all areas of the city, and one of the easiest to get to for patients coming into the city from other surrounding towns.
Furthermore, whenever we perform any type of eye surgery, we do so with complete peace-of-mind, knowing that any post-operative incident can be handled efficiently thanks to the experience of our attending doctors with the support of our team of on-call doctors or the direct advice of the lead surgeon.
This service is also available to other ophthalmologists in the area, with whom we have had a close working relationship for many years. Once a patient has been assessed on an emergency basis, the case is referred to the relevant ophthalmologists, the necessary measures are applied and an appointment is made to see the ophthalmologist as soon as possible. This is all possible thanks to a cooperative programme that offers the advantages of experience and coverage, not only to our own patients but also to many more patients who are under the care of other ophthalmology teams in Barcelona.
