Is it true that if I have LASIK surgery now, the chance of having a cataract operation is limited?

Some years ago, there was a notable percentage of intraocular lens calculation error using Biometry in patients with a history of previous LASIK surgery.

Today, however, with the latest biometers and much more sophisticated calculation formulas, this situation has been reduced to a minimum, even more so if we consider earlier corneal data from our computer records.

In any case, at our institution we always advise patients of this possibility and inform them that, if it should occur, we can treat it by swapping the intraocular lens correcting the defect. The aim is always the same: to achieve emmetropia, i.e. for the refractive value of the eye to be as close to 0 as possible.
